The Many Aspects and Steps of Conversion
While I was extremely ill, and pretty much in bed vs. out of bed in the fall of 2008 through the summer of 2009; I began watching EWTN more then I had ever done before since it’s existence. In the past, I would watch Mother Angelica, catch one or two saint movies, beyond that, not too much. Then as I began to delve deeper into my spiritual life, all due to God and this absolute amazing miracle he performed on my girlfriend’s husband in the first half of 2008 (that’s another blog). I became more interested in watching EWTN, and began to notice I was watching less “mainstream TV shows and/or movies”. Read the rest at Faith Comes First, a Catholic Daily blog.
Defending Life

On your mark, get set, go! We run from the minute we get up till the minute we lay down. Even then our mind still races. We have a one-track mind that doesn’t stop; too much to remember, think about, plan for. (Also, we have all those worries to worry about!) Life comes at us fast and furious; we definitely are on the fast track. Read the rest at Blogging For a Better Life. The Painting on the Wall
In our adoration chapel there are some wonderful works of art going on. There are two stained glass cathedral arch windows. When the sun comes around to the window later in the day, the colors of the window shine above the Blessed Sacrament. The interesting thing is, God is using this sunlight in the window to create the most Heavenly promises visually portrayed on to the wall. At first I thought it resembled Our Blessed Mother overshadowing the Host in the Monstrance. However, the other day my husband pointed out what he saw, and then I also saw the same things. It was the Sacred Heart in red, with rays of red streaming from it, along with white rays of light. Above the Host was the the Holy Spirit Dove with it’s wings spread out in the scene. This was entirely the work of the Lord, for the windows could not possibly place these images on the wall. It was so perfect and beautiful… Read the rest at Time for Truth, a Catholic Daily blog!
Tested many times, he stayed true to God
Today, 17 May 2012, is the 60th anniversary of the martyrdom of Blessed Ivan Ziatyk (a.k.a. John Zyatyk), a priest of the Ukranian Greek Catholic Church and a member of the Redemptorist Order. While some of us might be able to remain true to our Faith after two or three torture sessions, it takes a whole lot more tenacity, courage and heroism to undergo over 38 interrogations with their associated beatings and deprivations and remain true to God. This is what Blessed Ivan did. Read the rest at Society of Saints, a Catholic Daily blog.
Visions of Grandeur
In 1877, in “God’ Grandeur” by Gerald Manley Hopkins, a Catholic convert, we poetically read, “The world is charged with the Grandeur of God.” Dear Reader, To be noble or to be of good moral character, one must have stately visions of God’s Grandeur. For instance, we believe in the Resurrection of the Body and Life Everlasting! Jesus showed us how in His Most Wonder-Filled actual Visions of Grandeur! Holy versus Unholy Alliances
The common lectionary of 7 May, year B, includes this tidbit of history from the book of the Acts of the Apostles: “The people in the city were divided, some supported the Jews, others the apostles, but eventually with the connivance of the authorities a move was made by pagans as well as Jews to make attacks on them [the apostles] and to stone them.” (Acts 14: 4-5, Jerusalem Bible) Read the rest at Political Theology, a Catholic Daily blog.
The Beat Goes On
So many times we are at a lost trying to figure out our heart’s desire. The local drug store has no remedy for heart aches. Band aids can’t heal broken hearts. Bleeding hearts continue to overflow regardless of the plugs we shove in. For sure we know that we can’t live without the constant beat of our heart. Read the rest at Blogging For a Better Life.Boundaries isn't a Bad Word
It’s something many of us don’t consciously think about as we go about our day, but setting boundaries and keeping them influences nearly everything we do in regard to family members, friends, children, work and even ourselves. Read the rest at Media Musings. The Time Of The "New Gentiles"
One of the interesting topics concerned the “time of the gentiles”. Israel would be saved, but only after the time of the gentiles had been completed. This is covered in three of the four Gospels. It is not necessary to be concerned with converting the Jews now ( however it’s not discouraged!). Read the rest at God is Simple, a Catholic Daily blog
Loop of Grace
While attending a study group on the Eucharist, I heard in a DVD, Rev. Robert Barron speak of “the Loop of Grace.” In essence, what was said is that God loved us into being and that whatever grace God bestows on us, whatever gift God gives us, we cannot hold on to. We need to give it back to Him through words of praise and graditude or acts of loving service for others, offered to Him. God then multiplies it and returns more blessings and gifts back to us. When we give God our love and gratitude for all His blessings, He bestows more love on us. Read the full article at Grief, Stress and all the Rest.
Fishing for Souls
On his first day in a walking cast, my twelve year old son hobbled off toward the fishing pond with his friend. Poles and tackle in tow, the two boys had high hopes of catching trout on this early morning expedition. The arrangement included a ride to the park, an agreed upon time to call for a ride home, and the ‘buddy system’ rule in full effect. When we are weighed down by our sins, faults and imperfections, it’s important to remember that God is patient and merciful, never giving up on us. He’s there through the construction that is happening right in our own heart and soul. Read the rest at Media Musings.Everything has its purpose
After learning how to design medicines to heal human babies we moved on to designing human babies – from compounds to make tires for cars to compounds to destroy cities by fires – from electricity to light rooms at night to lighting the rooms with mindless light. Family Prayer
Sometimes in our hectic lives, we put the kids to bed without saying prayers because it was too late and they needed to hurry up and go to bed. This is where disobedience and chaos slips in…the kids become unruly and naughty trying to gain more negative attention than good. It attaches itself to the children and they become disrespectful towards siblings more and more as well as parents. Read the rest at Time for Truth, a Catholic Daily blog!
